JAKARTA - A number of elites of the National Awakening Party (PKB) held a meeting with top Gerindra Party officials. The meeting may indicate that PKB and Gerindra are serious about forming a coalition in the 2024 presidential election.

"Today, Wednesday at around 17.00, we Gerindra and PKB parties met, had coffee together and discussed finalizing the cooperation agenda and future political steps. Of course the coalition needs big thoughts to build and advance the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," said the chairman of the PKB DPP. Lukmanul Khakim told reporters, Wednesday, June 22, evening.

According to Lukmanul Khakim, PKB and Gerindra plan to declare the Greater Indonesia Coalition (KIR) in the National Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago.

"We also have plans to survey the location of the declaration, one of the places being considered is at IKN," he said.

Lukmanul explained, KIR also opened the door for other political parties to join. However, the political party must follow and accept the cawapres candidate who has been nominated by KIR. Namely, Gerindra chairman Prabowo Subianto as presidential candidate and PKB chairman Muhaimin Iskandar as vice presidential candidate.

"Of course this coalition is open to any party, because the principle of the coalition is to find friends. But there are already candidates for president and vice president who want to join, please be happy and we accept open arms," he explained.

Lukmanul believes PKB and Gerindra will be solid together to pick up victory. He claimed that the public welcomed the Prabowo-Cak Imin duo.

"Well, of course, regarding the presidential election, our discussion is quite long, one of which, we told you earlier, after the Prabowo-Gus Muhaimin meeting last Sunday night, apparently the interest of cadres, sympathizers, and the community is quite good, many like this duet, the response is extraordinary, " he concluded.
