JAKARTA - The closure of a railroad crossing by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) on Jalan Power, Kebon Melati Village, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, some time ago, had an impact on the transportation of waste volume on the banks of the Tanah Abang West Flood Canal (BKB) river. . The closure of this road access has been criticized by local residents.

The supervisor of the UPK for the Water Agency of Tanah Abang Sub-district, Jidon Mone, said that the closure carried out by PT KAI had a bad impact on the transportation of waste.

This is because the garbage carried in the West Flood Canal (BKB) flow from the Manggarai sluice can no longer be transported.

"Trucks are no longer able to transport. Only small cars can do that. Even then, we are not comparable to the volume of waste that can be transported when compared to trucks," he told reporters, Tuesday, June 21.

The UPK of the DKI Jakarta Water Agency also sent a letter to the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan regarding the closure of road access for trucks to transport garbage on a plot of road, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

"We have submitted letters to the leadership, starting from the head of the UPK for the Water Agency, the Environment Agency to the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan," he said.

Confirmed separately, Public Relations Daop 1 PT KAI, Eva Chairunisa said, the closure of the plot of road has been discussed in several meetings between the Central Jakarta City Government and the Director General of Railways (DJKA).

"The plot of road in Tanah Abang has been included in the 67 points included in the 2022 program which is closed and has been described," he said.

Eva said that PT KAI had thought about the impact of closing the plot of road. Because in the closing process there is a team that is part of the director general of infrastructure and security.

"Everything has been thought about the impact, then other alternative routes if the road is closed," he said.
