JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board KH Yahya Cholil Staquf said his party hoped that the NU Centenary Commemoration could be a momentum for NU to enter a new era of revival.

In commemoration of NU's birthday, he said that his party carried the theme "Empowering NU, Picking up the Second Century, Towards a New Awakening".

He conveyed that NU, which was founded on 16 Rajab 1344 Hijri or January 31, 1926, had the main function as a provider of religious guidance and guidance for its congregations.

Thus, continued Gus Yahya, the NU congregation, namely the nahdliyin in carrying out their religious life, took guidelines, references, and guidance from the things that were conveyed by NU.

"Therefore, of course, NU's goal is to become an effective religious guide and guidance for its citizens. It means that citizens follow NU's guidance properly," said Gus Yahya.
