Cockfighting With A Turnover Of 4 Million 1 Time Playing In South Sumatra Was Ambushed, 28 Gamblers Were Arrested

SUMSEL - Police arrested 28 cockfighting gamblers with a turnover of millions of rupiah on Jalan Captain Abdullah, Talang Puteri Village, Plaju Darat District, Palembang, South Sumatra (South Sumatra).

Head of Polrestabes Palembang Kombes Pol. Mokhamad Ngajib said the cockfighting gamblers were arrested by the combined personnel of the Palembang Polrestabes in an ambush operation on Sunday, June 19, at around 15.00 WIB.

"The perpetrators and the evidence were taken to the Mapolrestabes to undergo investigation," said Ngajib in Palembang, quoted from Antara, Monday, June 20.

The joint personnel consisting of Satreskrim, Satsamapta, Satintelkam, and Provos secured various evidences during raid operations at locations adjacent to residential areas.

The evidence that was secured by the police included 54 motorbikes, nine bangkok cocks, two cockfighting rolls, two wall clocks, and three cockroaches.

He said, from the results of the examination, temporary investigators have determined one of the dozens of gamblers as a suspect, namely a man who owns a cockfighting location with the initials RS or Sarkati.

To investigators, the suspect admitted that the cockfighting gambling was operated every Saturday and Sunday. While the profits obtained reach Rp. 2 million to Rp. 4 million in one cockfighting game.

The police continue to develop cases of cockfighting gambling which are troubling the residents so that the police ensure that they do not rule out the determination of other suspects.

"There is no mercy for all criminals in Palembang, we will enforce the applicable law," he said.

For their actions, the perpetrators are suspected of violating Article 303 of the Criminal Code concerning the Criminal Act of Gambling, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 25 million.
