PKB Praises Gerindra, More Realistic And Quick To Build Coalition, But...

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the PKB DPP Jazilul Fawaid explained why his party chose to build a coalition with the Gerindra Party. It is called because it is more realistic and fast in carrying out the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs in the 2024 election.

However, Jazilul Fawaid said PKB is still open to communication with other parties including PKS and Democrats to join the coalition.

"The red ant coalition (PKB, PKS, Democrat) is still open. But in the midst of that communication, it turns out that there is good communication with Gerindra. It seems that together with Gerindra it is more realistic and fast to pair presidential and vice-presidential candidates, but we are still open to communication with other political parties, " said Jazilul in Jakarta, Monday, June 20.

He explained that the PKB coalition with Gerindra had indeed met the party's threshold requirement for submitting a presidential-vice presidential candidate, which was 20 percent.

But according to him, Gerindra agreed that PKB would continue to communicate with other political parties such as the Democrats, PKS, and the NasDem Party to join.

"We know that PKB and Gerindra are enough to nominate the presidential and vice-presidential candidates and appoint the candidates. But it would be better if other political parties joined, what are the targets and objectives, including if there is 'power sharing'," he said.

According to him, finding coalition partners is not easy, especially regarding the threshold requirement for political parties to submit a presidential-vice presidential candidate pair of 20 percent.

He said PKB understands itself, that is, it must open communication with all political parties and is not arrogant so that the party always invites parties that can join the coalition.

"PKB knows itself because it has 10 percent of the vote. When it's with Gerindra, it's getting closer because the 20 percent requirement is met, especially when the Red Ants join, it will be more convincing for this coalition to win," he said.

Jazilul explained that Gerindra agreed that PKB would continue to communicate with other parties even though the two parties agreed to cooperate in the 2024 election.
