Proposed 29 NasDem DPWs As Candidates For President, Ganjar Pranowo Confirms Never Open Communication

JAKARTA - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo asserted that he had never communicated with the NasDem Party despite being proposed as a presidential candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election. As a PDI-P cadre, he chose to submit to party mechanisms.

"No, there is no (communication with the NasDem Party, ed)," said Ganjar at the PDIP Party School, Lenteng Agung, Jakarta, Friday, June 17.

Ganjar respects the 29 DPW of the NasDem Party who proposed his name to be carried as a presidential candidate in 2024. However, he believes that PDIP has its own mechanism.

"I think we respect it, and of course the PDI-P has its own mechanism, and I am a PDIP cadre," he said.

Moreover, Ganjar believes that PDIP will also respect the aspirations of the grassroots cadres of the NasDem Party. According to him, in building the nation and state, mutual respect between political parties is needed.

"After all, we all think that if we want to build a nation together, the institutions and political parties are the source. So we respect each other," he said.

Meanwhile, the general chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, also admitted that he had never met, let alone had serious conversations with Ganjar about the 2024 presidential election. He had also not confirmed who would be elected as a presidential candidate.

"We'll see, I myself have never met and talked seriously," said Surya Hotel Sultan, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, June 16.

However, Surya did not deny that he plans to meet with Ganjar or other figures who are proposed to be promoted as presidential candidates in 2024. The other figures are the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan to the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Andika Perkasa.

Surya said he would hold a meeting after seeing the names of the three presidential candidates who were proposed to him at the closing of the National Working Meeting of the NasDem Party.

"Indeed there is a discourse. There has never been anything like this. Maybe after it is announced tomorrow, everyone will see. Then I think about what is positive," he concluded.
