JAKARTA - Head of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) Hasto Wardoyo appealed to newlyweds to have their own program in realizing child pregnancy.

He said the intensity of sexual intercourse at will during the fertile period did not support the desire to have children.

“If you want to get pregnant, first your husband should also be normal, he must be healthy. His wife is also the same, then if you have sex during the fertile period, you can't continue. There is a new husband whose enthusiasm is every day overtime, the relationship continues. I guarantee that I am not pregnant," said Hasto in a video caption in Jakarta, Wednesday, May 15.

Hasto said that many newly married couples often misinterpret that the more they have sex, the sooner a woman will enter pregnancy.

In fact, he said, intimate relationships that are carried out every day and not far apart actually provide a great opportunity for pregnancy to not occur. He explained that this happened because the sperm released by men during intercourse every day almost certainly did not have good quality.

"So one of the conditions for people to get pregnant, it turns out that the male seeds are good. Then the wife during her fertile period, met and the relationship was not too often, "said Hasto.

In order to produce a good and quality pregnancy for the mother, Hasto recommends having sex at least two or three times a week. This is because the sperm produced by men must be prepared well in advance.

Previously, based on the Antara report, Hasto also suggested that men who want to get married reduce their smoking habit, avoid strict usage and maintain their diet so that they can produce quality sperm 75 days before the wedding.

While for women, it is recommended to do a health check at the nearest health facility to measure the circumference of the upper arm, weight and height as well as the level of hemoglobin (Hb) in the blood.

All of these things are very important to be a concern for all families in Indonesia, so that they can produce quality pregnancies and various problems get direct medical attention from the start.

In addition, it can also reduce the risk of death in mothers and babies as well as the occurrence of malnutrition in children since in the womb which causes stunting.

Hasto also conveyed to every family to plan pregnancy as well as possible, so that the parenting provided to children can run optimally as well as avoid the occurrence of an unproductive population explosion that has the potential to harm the country.

"My message to the family, do not have an unplanned pregnancy because it will be a disaster in itself," said Hasto.

He said that many parents do not really love their children because it begins with an asymptomatic pregnancy, an unwanted pregnancy, resulting in violence against the child and family.
