After The Meeting With Luhut, The Tangerang Regent Said That The New Subvariant Of COVID-19 Had Entered The Regency Area

TANGERANG - The Regent of Tangerang, Ahmed Zaki Iskandar, suspects that in his area there is a high possibility that the new Omicron subvariant COVID-19 virus, namely BA.4 and BA.5, will be detected. H.

This was conveyed after he held a coordination meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

"The results from our coordination meeting last Saturday with Pak Luhut and also several experts including the Minister of Health, it is suspected that this variant already exists and may have entered Tangerang Regency," Zaki told reporters at the Yasmin Hotel, Curug, Tangerang Regency, Wednesday. June 15.

However, he said the impact felt on humans from the Omicron subvariant was not too dangerous. This happens because the immune system of the people who are vaccinated will be stronger.

"But the impact is very small. Due to strong immunity (or) the effect on the body is very small," he said.

However, he revealed that it was possible for people who had been vaccinated to contract the Omicron subvariant COVID-19 virus.

"Even though you have been vaccinated, you also have a chance of getting infected again. (But) By doing self-isolation at home, for 4-5 days, hopefully this virus will disappear," he said.

Zaki said that there was no special handling regarding the presence of the Omicron subvariant. According to him, the important thing is to comply with the health protocols set by the government.

"There is no special countermeasures," he concluded.
