JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo is said to be a minister of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet who was hit by a reshuffle. So, what did the Minister of Agriculture say?

"I don't know. I just work. I started from the bottom of the job, just working, as much as I can and as hard as I can," Syahrul told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 14.

The NasDem politician's name is often mentioned when rumors of a cabinet reshuffle strengthen as one of the ministers who deserves to be removed.

A number of political observers and even volunteer groups supporting President Jokowi frequently mention Syahrul's name in the ranks of ministers who deserve to be replaced.

To reporters, Syahrul admitted that he did not know anything about the reshuffle rumors and chose to focus on carrying out his duties as Minister of Agriculture.

Syahrul also admitted that he had never received a special call from President Jokowi to discuss the cabinet reshuffle.

"It wasn't just a meeting. A meeting and one of them I was asked to prepare enough rice. Yes, we export it once in a while, I'm preparing it," he said, as reported by Antara.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2021 the rice harvested area will reach 10.41 million hectares, a decrease of 245.47 thousand hectares or 2.30 percent compared to 10.66 million hectares a year earlier.

Rice production in 2021 will reach 54.42 million tons of milled dry grain (GKG), a decrease of 233.91 thousand tons or 0.43 percent compared to 54.65 million GKG in 2020.

Meanwhile, rice production in 2021 for the population's food consumption will reach 31.3 million tons, a decrease of 140.73 thousand tons or 0.45 percent compared to 31.50 million tons in 2020.

Meanwhile, BPS said that the performance of agricultural exports in 2021 will continue a positive trend of 4.24 billion US dollars, an increase of 2.86 percent compared to 4.12 billion US dollars a year earlier.

The positive trend continues in the BPS report which states that agricultural exports in April 2021 grew by 15.89 percent compared to the same period last year.
