Starting Today, Operation Zebra Is Held For Two Weeks Targeting Traffic Offenders

JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya held Operation Zebra for two weeks, starting today, Monday, October 26.

"Operation Zebra will take place from 26 October to 8 November 2020," said Director of the Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, to reporters, Monday, October 26.

In this operation, traffic officers will target several violations, such as completing vehicle documents to using safety equipment.

"We will give sanctions to motorists who violate, such as against traffic flow, violating stop lines or road markings, and not wearing helmets," said Sambodo.

In Operation Zebra, officers will go around from one point to another to carry out repression. Officers will also prioritize providing education rather than prosecution.

"We do more socialization and public education about traffic, rather than law enforcement," he said.

Furthermore, Sambodo said that in Operation Zebra this time it was not only aimed at increasing awareness regarding safe driving, but also about the discipline of health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"Officers urge motorists to wear masks and keep their distance. Hopefully, the number of COVID-19 cases in Jakarta will decrease," he said.
