SLEMAN - A large banyan tree in the Denggung Field area, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) fell due to strong winds and heavy rain. Pohin hit the playground around the location.

"Then at around 12.50 WIB, a very strong wind hit the banyan tree until it 'rukat' (uprooted along with its roots) and hit the playground," he said.

"The vehicle was supposed to be dismantled on Sunday (12/6) yesterday, because the night market was finished, but it turns out that until today it has not been dismantled and a banyan fell on it," he said.

The Sleman BPBD Rapid Response Team (TRC) together with Sleman Environment Service (DLH) officers and a number of volunteers immediately evacuated the fallen tree.

"There are two TRC teams from BPBD and from DLH as well as volunteers. As for the percentel from the TRC team, there are about 15 people plus about 15 personnel from DLH," he said.

The evacuation team was divided into two, namely the team for cutting twigs and tree trunks using a chainsaw and the team for transporting branches and trunks that had been cut using trucks.

"In addition to the banyan tree in Denggung, fallen trees due to rain and wind have also been reported in the Sleman Regency Government complex," said Makwan.
