KPK Searches Yogyakarta Mayor's Office

YOGYAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched the office of the Mayor of Yogyakarta regarding the bribery case for issuing apartment construction permits in the city involving former Yogyakarta Mayor, Haryadi Suyuti.

The search coincided with the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Yogyakarta City Government. As reported by Antara, Tuesday, June 7, several KPK officers came to the Yogyakarta City Hall complex at around 11.00 WIB accompanied by police personnel from DIY Police Mobile Brigade.

In addition to the Yogyakarta Mayor's office, the search was continued at the Yogyakarta City Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Office, which is also located in the Yogyakarta City Hall complex.

Furthermore, the officers searched the Yogyakarta City Housing and Settlement Public Works Agency.

In this case, the KPK has named four suspects for the bribery case for apartment licensing in the city of Yogyakarta, consisting of three from the Yogyakarta City Government as bribe recipients, namely the former Mayor of Yogyakarta Haryadi Suyuti, Head of the Investment Agency and One Stop Services of NWH as well as the aide and personal secretary of HS, TBY, as well as the alleged briber from the developer who applied for the ON permit.

Meanwhile, the Coordinator of the Yogyakarta City Independent Monitoring Forum, Baharuddin Kamba, said that the alleged bribery case currently being investigated by the KPK could be an entry point to investigate the issuance of various permits that have been carried out by the Yogyakarta City Government, not only building permits for apartments but also other commercial licenses.

"I think this case is also a valuable lesson for all State Civil Apparatus (ASN) and public officials in the Yogyakarta City Government to always obey the rules and not be easily provoked into accepting something in return", he said.

He also hopes that the role and function of the Yogyakarta City Government Inspectorate will continue to be strengthened to prevent potential corruption.
