JAKARTA - The supreme leader of the Khilafatul Muslimin group, Abdul Qadir Baraja, has been arrested in Lampung. In fact, his current status has become a suspect in the alleged case of spreading false news.

"Yes, indeed for the arrester of KM (Khilafatul Muslimi, ed) yes, then the suspect has been detained under the initials AB," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo to reporters, Tuesday, June 7.

In determining this suspect, Abdul Qadir Baraja was charged with three articles, including the Ormas Law (UU), the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE), and Law No. 1/1946.

"About the spread of false news that causes a commotion. All of that will be investigated by investigators," said Dedi.

The application of this article is because Abdul Qadir Baraja has links to the motorcycle convoy in Cawang, East Jakarta, and Brebes, Central Java.

In the convoy, participants who are members of the Khilafatul Muslimin distributed poster leaflets. The content is a narrative that echoes hatred against the legitimate government.

"This will later have a relationship, now that connection will be assessed again, further deepened," said Dedi.

Abdul Qadir Baraja was arrested in the Lampung area. He is known to be the highest leader of the Khilafatul Muslimin group.

In addition, Abdul Qadir Baraja is also known to be a convict of terrorism cases. Because, he was involved with the terrorist group the Islamic State of Indonesia (NII).
