JAKARTA - VinFast ensures that it will carry out the production of electric motorcycles in the country at an assembly facility located in Subang, West Java, starting next year.

VinFast Indonesia E-Motocycle Chief Executive Officer Yordan Satriadi explained that currently all VinFast electric motorcycle units sold in Indonesia are still imported in full or completely built up (CBU).

However, the Vietnamese automotive brand is preparing a factory in Subang as an assembly location or implementing a completely knocked down (CKD) scheme.

"For the time being, this year we are still all CBU but later we will CKD it in Subang. The plan is next year, 2027," said Yordan when met after the launch of the VinFast electric motorcycle in West Jakarta, Saturday.

It is known that VinFast has begun to penetrate the electric motorcycle market in Indonesia by launching three new models, namely VinFast Evo, VinFast Feliz II, and VinFast Viper.

VinFast offers the Evo at a Jakarta OTR price of Rp17.5 million, Feliz II for Rp18.5 million, and Viper for Rp22 million using the battery subscription scheme.

In addition to selling to the general public, VinFast also opens up partnership opportunities with various business actors such as for the needs of corporate operational vehicles and online transportation services based on applications.

"We are open to everyone. So we can absorb everything, we are open to anyone who wants to own our vehicles for company fleets, for ride hailing (online transportation application), we can work together," said Yordan.

As a support for its products, VinFast also expands the electric vehicle ecosystem through the development of a battery exchange network.

VinFast together with V-Green currently operates more than 2,000 battery exchange stations spread across the Jabodetabek area and a number of major cities on the island of Java.

The company assesses that the Indonesian motorcycle market, which reaches more than six million units per year, has promising prospects for the development of its business in the electric two-wheeled vehicle segment.

Through the domestic production scheme, expansion of the battery exchange network, and development of the electric vehicle ecosystem, Yordan is optimistic that VinFast can strengthen its penetration in the Indonesian electric motorcycle market.

"In Indonesia, this market is large, more than six million per year. This is something that is very interesting for two-wheeled business in Indonesia," he said, quoted by Antara.
