JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party asserts that there is only one presidential candidate in 2024, namely Prabowo Subianto. Secretary General of Gerindra Ahmad Muzani also revealed the meaning behind Prabowo's words.

"This statement was made by Pak Prabowo at the NasDem Party's DPP office and witnessed by many people. This statement was made by a person named Prabowo, who upholds democracy and who upholds the right to the household affairs of other parties," Muzani told reporters on Sunday. , June 5th.

Muzani said Prabowo hoped that political parties outside Gerindra could support and form a coalition with him to run as a presidential candidate.

"However, as a democratic person, Pak Prabowo still opens the opportunity that there are presidential candidates outside of himself, namely anyone who is supported, nominated by political parties as long as they meet the criteria by law," said Muzani.

According to Muzani, this is the reason Prabowo Subianto said that the presidential candidate does not have to be him. He said, Prabowo freed other figures to become presidential candidates as long as they were in accordance with existing rules.

"That's why Pak Prabowo said that it is not only him who is possible to become a presidential candidate. But anyone who can be supported by other parties is something that can become a presidential candidate," he said.

Previously, Gerindra Chairman Prabowo Subianto revealed the right criteria for a presidential candidate for 2024. Apart from being an Indonesian citizen who is physically and mentally healthy, this figure must be committed and loyal to Indonesia.

"A figure who is truly committed and loyal to Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution in its entirety. Not as a mantra, but completely. I think that is the most important criterion," Prabowo said at the Nasdem Party DPP Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, June 1.
