Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan Inaugurates The First PLN Green Tourism SPKLU On Java Island

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) General (Ret.) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan inaugurated a public electric vehicle charging station (SPKLU) built by PT PLN (Persero) in the Borobudur Temple area, Magelang, Central Java and Prambanan Temple, Sleman, Yogyakarta on Saturday 4 June.

SPKLU Fast Charging which is located at a Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) is the first SPKLU Green Tourism on the island of Java. Green Tourism is a tourism concept that is sustainable and environmentally friendly.

The inauguration of the SPKLU was also attended by Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, Head of the Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy Institute Abdullah Azwar Anas, Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Rida Mulyana, as well as the Regional Business Director for Java, Madura and Bali PLN, Haryanto WS, and the President Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi (TWC) Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko (Persero) Edy Setijono.

In his remarks, Luhut appreciated PLN's steps in supporting Battery-Based Electric Vehicles (KLBB), especially in tourist destination areas. He said the existence of SPKLU in the Borobudur Temple and Prambanan Temples, apart from supporting electricity-based operational vehicles, can also be used by the community.

"This can also be proof that Indonesia is serious about developing electric vehicles and creating clean energy," said Luhut, Saturday, June 4.

Luhut even encouraged all Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP) to replace all fossil-based vehicles (which use oil fuel) with electric-based vehicles. This is in accordance with the government's plan to create Green Tourism as a form of Indonesia's commitment to clean energy.

"The target is that by the end of this year all DPSPs can begin to organize. So next year the operational vehicles are clean from fossil cars. All I ask is to use cars, buses, or electric motorbikes," said Luhut.

For information, until now, PLN is recorded to have built 129 SPKLU units spread across 98 points throughout Indonesia. The target is that by the end of 2022 there will be an additional 40 SPKLU units spread over 28 points.
