Moeldoko Emphasized That The Government Is Responsive To Input And Does Not Shut Down

JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko emphasized that the government responded to all input from all groups, including the public. Moeldoko said that the administrations of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin had never closed themselves off to suggestions made regarding the policies they had taken.

"The government is very responsive to various inputs. We do not close ourselves, do not close our eyes, and do not cover our ears. Such input is necessary," Moeldoko told reporters at his office, Wednesday, October 21.

Regarding these corrections and inputs, the government, according to him, always tries to improve from time to time because they realize that nothing is perfect. "We, the government, cannot work perfectly, because perfection does not belong to humans," he said.

Therefore, Moeldoko asked all parties to join hands to help the government, especially in the midst of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Apart from that, he also asked people not to make things difficult for themselves.

"We should not make it difficult for ourselves. Instead, by working with various parties and the government to listen to all input, the problems we have faced so far can be handled properly," he said.

In addition to calling the government responsive to public input, Moeldoko also denied accusations that the government took repressive actions against the community. According to him, what the government is currently doing is actually an effort to protect the community

"So the government has not made any repressive efforts with a specific goal but the goal is how the government should be positioned to protect the whole nation," he said.

"One side of democracy must grow well, proceed well, but on the other hand, stability remains a concern. Because once we ignore stability, there is a tendency for this country to become anarchist," he added.

For this reason, the government takes firm steps against anarchist parties, including when demonstrations against the Omnibus Law on Cipta Kerja were held. "Don't because of the violent behavior by a group of people who in fact disturb the needs of others and the government is silent, so the government is not doing its job properly," he said.

So far, continued Moeldoko, the government also continues to support democracy in society. However, this support must also be accompanied by the right regulations so that they do not go in the wrong direction.

"A freedom must be protected by the constitution so that it does not lead to anarchy," he concluded.
