JAKARTA - Chairman of the Advisory Council of DKI Gerindra Party DPD Mohamad Taufik confirmed that he plans to leave the Gerindra Party and wants to move to the NasDem Party.
The plan to move the party was revealed after he was removed from the position of Deputy Chair of the DKI Jakarta DPRD by the Gerindra Party DPP and replaced by Rani Mauliani. Taufik views party jumping in politics as a normal thing.

The deputy chairman of the DKI DPRD from 2014 to 2022 admitted that one of the reasons he wanted to leave the Gerindra Party was because he no longer felt comfortable.
"One of them is because it is uncomfortable. We need comfort in a party. If you are not comfortable in a house, there are only two choices. Stay still or leave the house," he said.
Taufik stated the reason he wanted to move to the Nasdem Party. Taufik said he would move to a party with the same ideology as Gerindra, the party which was founded in 2008 has a nationalist ideology.
Thus, Taufik views that Nasdem is the right party for him to anchor because it has a similar ideology to Gerindra.
"We can see which movements are based on religion, which ones are based on the nationalist movement. Well, I'm starting from the nationalist party. Of course if you want to shift, the tendency will be to a nationalist party," he explained.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Party Board of Trustees, Desmon J Mahesa, responded to news about the desire of Member of the Board of Trustees of DKI Jakarta Gerindra Party DPD M Taufik, to move to the NasDem Party. Desmond is actually grateful that Taufik left Gerindra.
