Unique Souvenirs Made From Plastic Waste For Delegation Of G20 Summit In Bali

DENPASAR - Unique souvenirs made from plastic waste were prepared for the Delegation of the G20 Summit. This souvenir was prepared by the Bali Turtle Partnership Community on Serangan Island, South Denpasar, Bali.

Bali Turtle Environmental Consultant, I Wayan Patut said that his community had prepared handicrafts as souvenirs since March 2022. Souvenirs would be given to the G20 Summit delegates who would visit Serangan Island.

"Only a few have been completed because we are looking for a neat and functional method so that it is not a hassle to carry," said Patut, Wednesday, June 1.

"We are trying to make souvenirs and hope that our place becomes a visit. We prepare it for the delegates who want to visit. We hope that the main goal to save the environment can be seen here," he added.

There are 12 handicraft products made from plastic waste such as chairs, soap holders to flower pots.

"That 60-80 percent is made of plastic. For small sizes, such as key chains and soap holders, we provide them free of charge," said Patut.

Prepared 200 samples of 12 handicraft products prepared. Currently, souvenir work is still being carried out so that it can be completed before the G20 Summit in Bali.

These souvenirs are made with raw materials obtained from the local community. The plastic waste is processed into various handicraft products that have artistic value and can be used for everyday life.

He hoped that the handicrafts that were prepared would become lighter in an effort to protect nature and ensure the cleanliness of the surrounding environment.

"And it can also open up market opportunities that will make the waste management process sustainable, so that the economy can run," said Patut.
