Police Find 2 South Sumatran Residents Bringing 53 Cannabis Plants Complete With Seeds, Apparently 'Farming' Behind The House

MARTAPURA - The Narcotics Unit of the Ogan Komering Ulu Police (OKU) East, South Sumatra handled the case of two Barusan Jaya Village residents with the initials AG (21) and HS (40) who were caught planting marijuana in their backyard on Tuesday, May 24.

Head of Drug Investigation at the East OKU Police, AKP Bondan Try Hoetomo, said the two suspects were arrested while they were in a hut in Harisan Jaya Village, Cempaka District, East OKU Regency.

From the suspect's hands, the police confiscated as many as 53 small and large cannabis plants weighing 227.79 grams.

From the suspect's hands, a package of suspected marijuana-type narcotics weighing 13.00 grams was also secured, which was wrapped in newsprint stored in the room of one of the perpetrators.

"Members also managed to find a packet of seeds suspected to be marijuana seeds wrapped in brown cloth in the closet of the suspect's house," he explained in Martapura, Antara, Sunday, May 29.

"We immediately brought the suspect along with the evidence to the East OKU Police Headquarters to undergo further examination and investigation," he said accompanied by the Head of Public Relations, Iptu Edi Arianto.

For his actions, he continued, the two suspects will be charged with Article 114 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph 1 or Article 111 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code on Narcotics.
