JAKARTA - President Director of PT WIKA Industri Manufaktur (WIMA) M. Samyarto said Aceh was the first province to use the Gesits electric motorcycle as an operational vehicle for local government.

"Aceh is the first province in Indonesia to use the Gesits electric motorbike as an operational vehicle within the local government," said Samyarto in a press release quoted by Antara, Saturday, May 28.

Samyarto said the use of Gesits as an operational vehicle for local governments is a tangible form of synergy in supporting national energy security and encouraging the acceleration of battery-based electric vehicles in Indonesia.

This synergy, he said, made Aceh a role model for other provinces in supporting national energy security, by starting to use environmentally friendly vehicles.

Samyarto hopes that the presence of Gesits in Aceh can encourage and increase public enthusiasm and awareness in utilizing environmentally friendly green energy.

The Aceh Provincial Government through the Department of Industry and Trade purchased 37 units of Gesits electric motorcycles through the e-Catalog of the Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP).

The motorcycles will be used for data collectors in the trade and industry sectors in 23 regencies/cities.

The symbolic handover was carried out by the Governor of Aceh, Nova Iriansyah to representatives of 23 Regencies/Cities in Anjong Mon Mata, Governor's Hall, Banda Aceh, Friday (27/5).

Later, the electric motorcycle will be used for the operational needs of industrial data collectors and surveys of basic needs in Aceh.

Aceh Governor Nova Iriansyah said the background for choosing the Gesits electric vehicle was to save costs and simplify performance, as well as a form of appreciation for the work of the nation's children.

In addition, the use of motorbikes is also referred to as a form of introduction to the Acehnese people about energy-efficient and environmentally clean vehicles.

"Thus later we are ready to participate in supporting the operation of all electric-powered vehicles in Indonesia in 2050," said Nova.

Born as the creativity of the nation's best sons and daughters, Gesits as a battery-based electric vehicle, is one of the solutions to support government programs in reducing the use and dependence on fossil energy.

Not only economical and environmentally friendly, Gesits also empowers local suppliers. This is indicated by the use of components that are produced domestically as much as 85 percent of the total 162 components supplied by 24 companies and five of them are state-owned enterprises.

The current Gesits Domestic Component Level (TKDN) value is 46.73 percent, so it is categorized as a national electric motor.

Gesits motorbikes can be ordered through the e-Catalog of the Government Procurement Policy Institute.
