Floods Hit Olu Sigi Village

PALU - Floods hit Olu Village, Lindu District, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi (Sulawesi) due to heavy rains since early morning which caused the Lombosa River in the village to overflow.

"High-intensity rains that occurred from 00.00 to 02.00 WITA resulted in the Lombosa River in Olu Village overflowing so that some residential areas were flooded," said Head of Logistics and Emergency Division of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Central Sulawesi Province, Andi Sembiring, quoted by Antara, Friday, May 27.

In addition to the five houses affected, Andi said, the Olu Village Office building was also flooded with a height of about 50 centimeters.

"Until now, there have been no casualties and the affected residents chose to stay in their homes even though their houses were flooded," he said.

According to him, the urgent need at this time is to normalize the river so that it does not continue to overflow and make gabions so that the river can accommodate all the water discharge when it rains again.

Andi said that currently the Central Sulawesi Provincial BPBD and Sigi Regency BPBD were still collecting data on infrastructure as well as facilities and infrastructure affected by the flood.

He appealed to the residents of Olu Village to remain vigilant and always ready to anticipate similar disasters that could occur at any time.

"Until now there have been no reports of casualties. We continue to coordinate with the Sigi BPBD to anticipate a greater impact due to the flooding that occurred," he added.
