Police Suspect That Cai Changpan Committed Suicide Because Of His Urgency And Could Not Escape From The Officers

JAKARTA - The police suspect that Cai Changpan's decision to end his life by hanging himself because of his urgency and no longer able to escape from the officers.

Kapolda Metro Jaya Inspector General Nana Sudjana said the suspicion was because since deploying joint personnel, Cai Changpan's space had become increasingly narrow.

"The person concerned feels that his place of refuge is difficult, there are difficulties because our members are constantly mobile ," Nana told reporters, Monday, October 19.

Moreover, in the case that ensnared him, Cai Changpan was already sentenced to death. So, allegedly crossed his mind to end his life.

"(It is suspected) he took a shortcut to commit suicide or hang himself from a tire burner in the Jasinga area," said Nana.

Apart from this suspicion, Nana said, as many as 291 joint personnel were deployed to hunt down Cai Changpan.

The deployment of a large number of personnel consisting of the ranks of Polda Metro Jaya and Brimob was because the Tenjo forest where Cai Changpan was hiding was very wide.

"Geographically, the forest is wide, we need additional personnel, we get 1 SSK Brimob. Then we form a team to explore the forest," said Nana.

Previously it was reported that Cai Changpan was found dead hanging in the area of a tire burning factory in Jasinga Forest, Bogor, West Java, Saturday, October 17.

Based on physical characteristics, the police confirmed that the body of the man who was found hanging was Cai Changpan.

"That some of these characteristics are identical to the death row convict Cai Changpan, starting from fingerprints and tattoos, these are identical to the convicted person," said Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Nana Sudjana to reporters, Monday, October 19.

Meanwhile, referring to the autopsy results at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, he found a scar on his neck. In addition, the cause of death was due to inability to breathe.

"After the autopsy, it was found on the neck that there were pressure abrasions running from bottom left to top right. There were no other injuries," said Nana.

"So the cause of death is the result of blunt force on the neck that clogs the airway causing suffocation," continued Nana.

As for the decision of the Tangerang District Court Number 385 / Pid.Sus / 2017, Cai Changpan was sentenced to death because he was proven to have run a methamphetamine-type narcotics business.

However, the man who reportedly possessed military skills managed to escape from the Class 1 prison in Tangerang, Banten, by digging a hole to allow him to escape from the detention cell on Friday 18 September.
