BANGKA BELITUNG - The Agriculture Service of Central Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, noted that 752 cattle were identified as having suspected Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD).

"We have identified as many as 752 cows with suspected FMD virus and these are found in three sub-districts", said Head of the Central Bangka Agriculture Service, Sajidin in Koba, Tuesday, May 24.

He explained, that from the data as of May 13, 2022, a total of 752 cattle in Central Bangka were identified as having FMD.

"There is even a farm in Kampung Dul, Pangkalan Baru where up to 500 cattle have been infected with FMD", said Sajidin.

He explained that several cows were found with suspected FMD in three sub-districts, namely Pangkalanbaru, Namang, and Simpangkatis sub-districts.

"Meanwhile, in the other three sub-districts, namely Koba, Lubuk Besar, and Sungaiselan sub-districts, they are still classified as safe and there have been no reports from farmers", said Sajidin.

His party has reminded farmers to be more careful with FMD disease because it is very easy to get infected between cows.

"If only one cow is affected by FMD, it is possible that the others also have the potential to be infected", he said.
