Police: Elf Driver In Karawang Deadly Accident Charged With Negligence

JAKARTA - The West Java Regional Police (Polda) has arrested an elf driver with the initials DB as a suspect in an accident that killed seven people in Karawang Regency, West Java, under the article of negligence.

"This is subject to Article 310 of the LLAJ Law," said West Java Police Head of Public Relations Kombes Ibrahim Tompo in Bandung, West Java, as reported by Antara, Monday, May 23.

There is also Article 310 of the Road Traffic and Transportation Law (UU LLAJ) which regulates the punishment of suspects who cause accidents due to negligence.

In Article 310 Paragraph 4, it is stated that if an accident due to negligence results in the death of another person, the punishment is a maximum imprisonment of six years and/or a maximum fine of Rp. 12 million.

According to him, the police have only named one suspect, namely the elf driver whose initials are DB. Now the alleged elf driver has been detained by the Karawang Police.

There was also an accident that occurred on Sunday (15/5) afternoon involving an Isuzu Elf vehicle numbered T-7556-DB. The accident occurred when the Isuzu Elf vehicle suddenly swerved and crossed the opposite lane.

Then the elf's car crashed into a pickup car numbered T-8493-DZ which was passing in the opposite lane.

Then the elf car hit four passing motorists, including a Yamaha Vino motorcycle with number T-4850-PJ, Honda Beat number T-3105-HZ, Honda Scoopy number T-4577-SU, and Honda Vario number T-2339- MM.

Police recorded a total of 17 victims in the accident. Seven of them died and 10 others were injured.
