KPHP Sorong Facilitates KTH Maudus Sorong To Produce Ant Nest Tea

SORONG - The Production Forest Management Unit or KPHP Unit II Sorong provides assistance and facilitates local forest farmer groups to manage non-timber forest products such as ant nests into herbal teas.

Head of KPHP Unit II Sorong, Melkianus Su in Sorong, Friday, May 20, said that his party provided assistance to the forest farmer group (KTH) of Maudus District to produce ant nest tea.

He said that the raw material for ant nest tea is forest ant ingredients where from two kilograms of dried forest ant nest can produce one kilogram of herbal tea.

According to him, the production process is carried out by KTH Maudus District while KPHP helps provide product packaging, permits, and marketing.

Ant nest tea product KTH Maudus District has obtained a halal label and has been marketed in the local area.

"We continue to build cooperation with all parties so that the ant nest tea product of the MOI tribal community of Sorong Regency can be marketed outside Papua and even internationally," he said.

Melkianus said that the program is a community empowerment program in production forest areas so that people do not fully use their life by selling wood because at any time the wood can run out.

"This program aims to make the community prosperous and the forest to be sustainable," he added, quoted by Antara.
