Polri Asked To Follow Steps By The TNI To Take Decisive Action On Members Of LGBT Involvement

JAKARTA - The steps taken by the TNI AD to open LGBT cases in their institutions deserve thumbs up. For this reason, the National Police must also immediately open LGBT cases in their institutions, especially regarding Brigadier General E, who was detained by Propam Polri some time ago.

"IPW urges the National Police to be transparent and Promoter to explain, is it true that Brigadier General E was detained by Propam in connection with the LGBT case. In his early days as Chief of Police, Idham Azis had detained dozens of police who were suspected of being LGBT at the Police Propam, including Brig. Gen. E. Idham's attitude deserves thumbs up. Unfortunately, the continuation of the case is "a mystery" because there is no transparent continuation, "said IPW Presidium Chairman Neta S Pane in an official statement, Jakarta, Friday, October 16.

According to him, this step must be supported. "If the TNI-Polri soldiers have deviant habits, how can they carry out their duties properly," said Neta.

In addition, he asked the police to open LGBT cases in their institution, just as the Chief Justice of the Military Chamber of the Supreme Court (MA) Burhan Dahlan did.

"IPW appreciates that the Indonesian Army has opened this matter transparently so that it can be resolved completely and hopes the Police will be transparent in opening up LGBT issues internally so that they can be resolved," he said.

"Especially regarding Brig. Gen. E and dozens of other policemen who were detained at the National Police Propam," he added.

Previously, the head of the Supreme Court's Military Chamber Burhan Dahlan asked military judges not to hesitate to fire LGBT members of the TNI. His request was submitted because there were more than 20 cases where the perpetrators were even acquitted by the Military Court of the first instance.

"There are 20 cases. There is a doctor Lieutenant Colonel, some have just graduated from the Military Academy, Second Lieutenant," Burhan said on the Supreme Court YouTube account.

According to him, TNI soldiers belonged to this LGBT group because of lifestyle factors and he even mentioned that there was an LGBT TNI-Polri union. "This leader is sergeant. The members are Lieutenant Colonel. This is unique," he said.
