Formula E In Ancol Uses Class 3 Circuit, Can't For F1

JAKARTA - Vice President Infrastructure and General Affairs of OC Jakarta ePrix 2022, Irawan Sucahyono said the Jakarta Formula E race in Ancol uses a class (grade) 3 circuit so it is not designed for grade 1 car racing like Formula One (F1).

"This Ancol circuit is Grade 3, yes, so all international categories that are Grade 3 can be found here," Irawan told ANTARA at the Ancol Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (JIEC), Pademangan, North Jakarta, Thursday, May 19.

Classification per class was made to measure the feasibility of the circuit to hold various world-class, continental, or national races.

According to Irawan, although the Formula E circuit is in the Grade 3 category, JIEC Ancol has already passed the qualifications to hold a national level racing championship, such as various races organized by the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI).

However, as an asset of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, any planned national-level racing activities carried out by IMI at JIEC Ancol will have to obtain an organizing permit from the governor.

"Meanwhile, JIEC Ancol is for car racing, for motorbikes (bikes) it must be modified because this track is a car track. Motorcycle (bicycles) are not safe yet," said Irawan.
