PONTIANAK - Head of the National Narcotics Agency of West Kalimantan Province, Budi Wibowo, revealed that an active police officer with the initials YA (35), who was involved in a narcotics case by carrying 200 grams of crystal methamphetamine, had attempted suicide in a detention cell.

"The suicide attempt was carried out by suspect YA in the bathroom in the detention cell of the National Narcotics Agency of West Kalimantan Province using a hose that was there," he said in Pontianak, as reported by Antara, Thursday, May 19.

However, he said, not long after the experiment, the West Kalimantan BNNP immediately rushed YA to the Bhayangkara Hospital so that his life was saved.

"The reason he (YES-ed) committed suicide at that time was because of his pocket," he said.

Prior to this arrest, YA had violated the Code of Ethics and planned to be transferred to the Kayong Utara Resort Police.

"When the suspect YA and his partner, Kom (34), did not put up any resistance, we immediately searched them," he said.

He also explained that YA plans to bring the methamphetamine from the Jagoi Babang border, Bengkayang Regency, to Siantan. Previously, the two suspects were arrested while conducting illicit trafficking or drug transactions on April 21, 2022, at around 05.15 WIB, in front of the ferry crossing location. , Jalan Situt Machmud, North Pontianak District, West Kalimantan.

"The two suspects entered the narcotics type shabu-shabu from Jagoi Babang District, Bengkayang Regency (West Kalimantan-Malaysia border), by land using four-wheeled vehicles to Pontianak City," he said.

The disclosure began with the suspicion of the West Kalimantan BNNP team. When a gray Toyota Avanza four-wheeled vehicle seemed to move suspiciously, then the team followed it to the front of Pasar Puring Terminal, then the vehicle stopped in front of the Siantan ferry crossing, he said.

"The results of the search of the vehicle found two packs of methamphetamine and an assembled Revolver type firearm belonging to suspect YES. The results of the examination showed that the illicit goods belonged to suspect YES," he said.
