Human Rights Activist Natalius Pigai Calls Puan Maharani Right Next To Prabowo In The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - National Human Rights (HAM) activist Natalius Pigai highlighted Puan Maharani's leadership as one of the potential candidates in the 2024 presidential election. According to him, the chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, is very appropriate to be compared with Prabowo Subianto, who is the right combination to become president and vice president 2024-2029.

Because, said Natalius, the already complex challenges of the nation and state can only be overcome with the combined Prabowo-Puan leadership.

"Today, Indonesia is at its lowest point, the point where there is a divergence of reasoning between the leaders and the people, the saturation point where arrogant behavior is displayed by the leader, the point where the leader is present to pounce on the people, the point where Pancasila and the symbols of the nation state are seen as artistic symbolism without substantial embodiment," Natalius said during the Indonesia Point 7 political discussion series entitled 'Puan Maharani and National Awakening' in Jakarta, Wednesday 18 May.

"So we need leadership that is not only strong, but genuine, and I see that in the leadership figure of Mrs. Puan Maharani who, if paired with Pak Prabowo, will be a combination of leadership that is able to bring Indonesia out of the complexity of the nation's current problems," Natalius added.

Natalius further explained, both Prabowo and Puan have the character of statesmen, as well as politicians whose characters are not often found in other political elites because they have concern for the nation and its people, are patriotic, nationalist, firm, objective, and are not easily dictated by the oligarchs who have been circling power. . Prabowo and Puan are also a combination of Java and Outside Java who is more of the leading figures of nationalism.

"Moreover, Mrs. Puan is supported by Mrs. Megawati Sukarnoputri, who has a fairly capable political career, under the auspices of the large Nationalist Party and comes from Java and South Sumatra. This is a big capital for future leadership," said Natalius.

A strong and genuine national leadership, he said, is reflected in the leadership track records of both Puan and Prabowo. People in the future should no longer be fooled by a leadership model that 'impresses' populist but actually lacks the ability.

He gave an example of the current issue of nationality, which tends to be fragile because the danger of national disintegration is getting stronger due to divisions that are left too long.

"Take the example of nationalism, the president claims that the center of nationalism is on the throne of power in the state palace, while the people are considered not nationalists. It is as if the center of nationalism was only delivered from Sukarno to Suharto, Habibie, Gus Dur, Megawati, SBY and Jokowi at this time. Meanwhile, the people are considered not to be the owners of nationalism. The danger of nationalism as the personification of the individual power holders eventually widens the segregation between the government and the people, where the people are marginalized from the main mainstream of nationalism and are even considered not nationalists. This is dangerous," he explained.

Therefore, he said, this nation needs to find the right figure to be the captain as president and vice president in 2024-2029.

"The challenges of the nation today and in the future, in my eyes, are only these two figures, namely Prabowo and Puan Maharani who can. Anyone can argue about my choice," Natalius concluded.
