Dozens Of Podoroto Jombang Residents Are Poisoned After Eating Boxed Rice

JOMBANG - A number of residents of Garu Hamlet, Podoroto Village, Kesamben District, Jombang Regency, East Java, underwent medical treatment for experiencing nausea and vomiting suspected of being poisoned after eating boxed rice brought from activities at residents' homes.

Head of Garu Hamlet, Jombang Regency, Ahmad Mustin said that he had received reports of residents experiencing illness with the same symptoms, namely nausea and vomiting.

"Residents experience nausea and vomiting. From the report I received, they ate boxed rice that was brought home after their routine activities," he said, quoted by Antara, Saturday, May 14.

The routine activity was on Wednesday (11/5) night and residents began to feel sick on Thursday (12/5). At first there were only a few people, but more and more people became sick with the same symptoms, such as nausea and diarrhea.

Ahmad said that residents eat from the food served by the owner of the house, namely rice with side dishes of tofu and balado eggs and noodles. The food is put in a box and taken home after the recitation routine.

There are about 50 residents who experience pain with the same symptoms. Some of them are still small children.

Some residents are being treated at the puskesmas, because their health conditions are declining. They get medical treatment, for the recovery process from their illness.

The Jombang District Health Service officer has also conducted a survey regarding the suspected poisoning report. The officers also had a dialogue with the owner of the house occupied as the location for the study.

As a result, the owner of the house said that the cooking process was as usual, on Wednesday afternoon and finished in the afternoon. Then, the food is placed in a styrofoam box, filled with rice, with the side dish. All taken home.

"On average they eat until they finish. The side dishes are tofu, eggs, noodles, cooked with Balinese spices. The owner of the house said he also ate it, but he didn't get sick," he said.

Currently, out of dozens of people, there are still some who are being treated at the puskesmas.

For evidence, Ahmad said the officers were also having trouble, because it happened a few days ago. Currently, officers are still collecting samples and asking for information from a number of victims.
