One Game Again Against Myanmar At The SEA Games Vietnam 2021, Shin Tae-Yong Reports Elkan Baggot Can't Defend U-23 National Team

JAKARTA - The coach of the U-23 Indonesian National Team, Shin Tae-Yong gave news about one of the national team retainers. In the remaining matches that must be played by Garuda Nusantara at the SEA Games Vietnam 2021, the coach said that it was certain that Elkan Baggot could not defend the team in the last match.

The South Korean coach said the reason Baggot did not return to defend the U-23 national team was because of the busy schedule at his original club, Ipswich Town.

"I just received bad news that Elkan Baggott is very busy playing in England, so he will not be able to return to play for the U-23 Indonesian National Team in the remaining SEA Games," said Shin Tae Yong after the Indonesia vs Philippines match quoted from Bongda24h.

Whereas previously Shin Tae-Yong had said Elkan Baggott would soon come to Vietnam. The news was also corroborated by information from the Ipswich Town community media.

Where they said Baggott would join the U-23 Indonesian national team at the Vietnam SEA Games in the next few days. Although Baggott's departure still depends on the results of medical tests.

It was previously known that Baggot needed a further medical examination due to an injury which prevented him from defending Ipswich Town U-23.

However, with the end of the Professional Development League (PDL) South competition for the 2021/2022 season, Baggott is said to be free to join the U-23 Indonesian National Team.

Regardless of Baggot's situation, the Indonesian U-23 national team will play their final match in Group A of the SEA Games soccer game on Sunday, 15 May against Myanmar.

After winning 4-0 against the Philippines on Friday, May 13, the U-23 national team is now in the runner-up position in Group A with six points from three matches played.
