JAKARTA - Wakapolri Komjen Gatot Eddy Pramono will be appointed as an extraordinary lecturer or non-permanent lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Jember (Unej), East Java.
"The appointment was made based on the consideration that the Deputy Chief of the National Police has extraordinary expertise and achievements in the field of legal science (humanist police), so his knowledge and experience is very much needed," said Dean of the Faculty of Law Unej, Dr Bayu Dwi Anggono in Jember Regency, Friday, May 13.
The Deputy Chief of Police is scheduled to attend the graduation ceremony for the Period IV Academic Year 2021/2022 Unej and make friendship with the academic community of the Faculty of Law, Unej on Saturday, May 14 tomorrow.
"In addition to his expertise, his experience has served in various work units in the National Police, such as the South Jakarta Metro Police Chief, South South Sulawesi Police Deputy Chief, Metro Jaya Police Chief which of course is very useful for efforts to improve the legal skills of Unej Law Faculty students," he said quoted from Antara.
According to him, according to the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Number 3 of 2021 concerning Main Performance Indicators of State Universities, it is stated that PTNs will be considered as performing well if the qualifications of lecturers come from professional practitioners, the industrial world or the world of work.
"For this reason, since early 2021, we are committed to implementing the policy of the ministry of education and culture by actively involving practitioners as lecturers at FH Unej," he said.
It is recorded that from the beginning of 2021 to the beginning of 2022 there have been 25 practitioner lecturers who have taught at the Faculty of Law Unej. In addition to practicing lecturers, according to regulations in the field of higher education, someone who has extraordinary expertise and/or achievements can be appointed as a non-permanent/extraordinary lecturer at a higher education institution.
"Considering the need to involve practicing lecturers as well as using the opportunities provided by regulations, at the end of April 2022 the Faculty of Law Unej has appointed Komjen Gatot Eddy Pramono as a non-permanent/extraordinary lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Unej," he said.
Bayu said the willingness of the Deputy Chief of Police to become a lecturer at FH Unej was also due to the intense communication between the campus leadership and the Deputy Chief of Police, where both parties realized that universities and officials in state/government institutions must always synergize in developing the country.
"One of these synergies, apart from research results and publications from universities, can be used by state institutions, it is also in the form of synergies in the implementation of education and teaching, where practitioners are involved as lecturers at universities in order to improve the quality and reputation of graduates," he said.
FH Unej, he continued, expressed his gratitude to Komjen Gatot Eddy Pramono who had supported the development of a law higher education institution by being willing to become an extraordinary lecturer at the faculty.
"This also shows that the function of the National Police, namely providing protection and services, has developed well. It also shows the closeness of the Police to the community," he said.
He said the presence of Polri members as lecturers in universities would also be beneficial to build communication and synergy between the Polri and the community, especially universities.
