JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan started his visit to Europe by discussing technology and urban life with doctoral students from Indonesia at King's College, London, England.

Through the upload on his personal social media, Anies shared that he exchanged ideas with dozens of researchers and doctoral students in a discussion entitled Jakarta after the COVID-19 pandemic, smart technology and urban communities.

The discussion was held by doctoral students from Indonesia at the university, which was founded in 1829.

According to Anies, scientific research that uses data and information as the basis for development policies in Jakarta, such as handling the COVID-19 pandemic and boosting public transportation users through an integrated system, Jaklingko.

Likewise, program implementation in DKI Jakarta requires the latest technological innovations to overcome various challenges in managing the city after the COVID-19 pandemic.

"It takes harmonization of data and the use of the latest technology to improve services to the community," he said.

Anies invites doctoral students to help government programs through research results that must be applied as solutions to problems in the field.

"World-class competence must be balanced with grassroots knowledge," he said.

The former Minister of Education and Culture also advised students to explore their experiences while in England, both in work, networking and helping other Indonesian students.

"So that when you return home, you will bring knowledge, experience and networks, then use all of them to participate in answering the challenges of this beloved nation," he said.

Anies made a visit to Europe which departed on Tuesday (10/5) night, preceded by the city of London, England.

He plans to visit Paris in France and Berlin in Germany.

Anies plans to go to the Blue Continent for eight days in order to fulfill the invitation from the community in the region regarding mobility and transportation.
