European Union Recognizes Vaccine Certificate At PeduliLindung, Ministry Of Foreign Affairs: Facilitating The Travel Of Migrant Workers To Tourists

JAKARTA - Good news comes from Benua Biru, where the European Union and Indonesia now recognize each other's COVID-19 vaccination certificates, facilitating the activities of migrant workers and tourists.

This was stated by the Secretary of the Team for the Acceleration of Economic Recovery at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Lintang Paramitasari. She said Indonesia and the European Union had ratified the cooperation for mutual recognition of vaccine certificates on the PeduliLindungi application and the EU Digital COVID Certificate (EUDCC).

"Mutual recognition and interoperability of vaccine certificates are intended to encourage economic relations, in particular, to facilitate travel for migrant workers, students and tourists from the European Union to attend in Indonesia and business people", she explained in a press statement Thursday, May 12.

She further explained, in principle, the system will make it easier to read the QR Code issued by each certificate, so that the journey will be more seamless.

"As for international travel provisions related to health protocols, they still apply", she said.

With mutual acknowledgment and interoperability that has been discussed since last November, it will further facilitate travel activities to and from both parties.

Separately, the Indonesian Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union, Andri Hadi, said this mutual recognition shows the importance of Indonesia to the European Union, as well as a concrete form of strengthening cooperation.

"Mutual recognition of vaccination certificates is expected to contribute to increasing the interest of Wropa tourists who will visit Indonesia in the coming holiday season", he said, launching Antara on May 12.
