2024 Campaign Time Not Yet, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin Asks Minister To Focus On Work, Sandiaga Super Agrees

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked ministers to stay focused on work, not campaigning.

"Not yet (the campaign), what is important, as the President said, is to focus on work, stay focused," said Vice President Ma'ruf after attending the National Sports Design Implementation Meeting (DBON) at the Vice Presidential Palace, Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Thursday, May 12.

President Joko Widodo in the introduction to the Plenary Cabinet Session on May 9, 2022 also said that ministers and heads of institutions really focus on working on their respective duties so that the country's priority and strategic agendas are carried out properly.

"Don't leave your job," said the Vice President.

The Vice President's statement is indeed in line with President Jokowi's statement asking his cabinet to remain focused on the pandemic and global economic issues.

It is known that there are at least four ministers who are touted to run in the presidential election in 2024

The four are Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, and Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno.

Sandiaga, who was also present at the event, also agreed with Vice President Ma'ruf's statement.

"Super agrees, and now it's very clear. So far I've always explained that we focus on tasks and functions, I happened to be assigned to the sector hardest hit by the pandemic, the tourism sector, the creative economy, and with that explanation it was clear that all activities were centered on revival economy, creative economy tourism," said Sandiaga.
