The Ship Leaks While Looking For Shrimp, A Couple And Their Baby Died Drowning In Belawan Waters

MEDAN - A man and his wife and 2-year-old child were found drowned in the waters of Belawan, Medan City. All three are thought to have drowned after the ship they were on while looking for shrimp had a leak.

Medan SAR Public Relations Officer Sariman Sitorus said the three victims were evacuated by Belawan ABK RB 203 Alert personnel led by the SAR Ship Captain Capt Rahmat Surbakti together with Polairud.

The discovery began when officers on standby received information regarding the whereabouts of the woman's body at 08.15 WIB.

"Officers immediately went to the location where the woman's body was located in Belawan waters, 500 meters from the Gudang Garam port of Belawan, the docking dock for the SAR ship RB 203," said Sariman, Wednesday, May 11.

"Meanwhile, the man's body was found at 12.00 WIB in the same location and taken to the Belawan Police Office," he explained.

Sariman said, at around 14.50 WIB, officers again received information on the findings of the baby boy's body. The poor baby was found about 1 KM from the previous location of the body.

"Then they were immediately evacuated to the funeral home where after being traced it turned out that the three bodies were of the same family. The identities of the three were husband, Fahrurozi (26), wife Fidah (25) and son Azam (2)," he said.

From the information received by the SAR team, this family is a fisherman. When the fateful incident occurred, the ship they were traveling on experienced a leak, Tuesday, May 10, evening.

"This family is a fisherman who experienced a boat leak and drowned while looking for shrimp," he said.
