MEDAN - The North Sumatra Health Service confirmed that there have been no mysterious acute findings in North Sumatra.

The Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Health Office (Dinkes) of North Sumatra Province, Syarifah Zakia, explained that the mysterious case of acute hepatitis in North Sumatra was still probable.

"Currently, no acute hepatitis of this unknown has been found," he said, Wednesday, May 11.

Syarifah explained, previously the Health Office received information from 2 hospitals about data on probable acute hepatitis in North Sumatra.

"For the current data, there are only 2 probable ones, one at Elisabeth Hospital and one at Adam Malik Hospital. The one in Elisabeth has died, the one in Adam Malik is being treated," he explained.

Regarding the patient who died at Elisabeth Hospital, Syarifah said the patient died before May 1.

"Before May 2022 (he died) so he (the patient) can't be sure if he has hepatitis, it's still a suspicion," he continued.

Meanwhile, patients at Haji Adam Malik Hospital in Medan are still being treated and the samples are still being processed in the laboratory.

"So if we want to see the process of truth, after it was confirmed by our team here it was sent to the center, Jakarta, the results could only be obtained in 14 days. We are still waiting for the results, because the one at Adam Malik Hospital was only sent yesterday, Tuesday , May 10," he said.

Syarifah said, currently the North Sumatra Provincial Government has followed up on a circular from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) related to hepatitis prevention.

"So we have followed up on the circular from the Ministry of Health, we have made a circular to the city districts, so that the city districts are more responsive, implement health procedures and also carry out SKDR. So the health system and response have been reactivated," he said.
