JAKARTA - The COVID-19 Handling Task Force (Satgas) stated that the number of homecomers who were reprimanded for neglecting to carry out health protocols (prokes) had doubled during the 2022 homecoming holiday.

"There has been an increase in the number of people being monitored and reprimanded at tourist attractions, which is more than twice as much as before," said Government Spokesperson for Handling COVID-19 Prof. Wiku Adisasmito at the Press Conference on the Development of Handling COVID-19 in Indonesia Per 10 May 2022 which was followed online in Jakarta, Tuesday, May 10.

Wiku said when looking at the health protocol monitoring data in the period leading up to collective leave on April 24-30 2022 until Eid 1-7 May 2022, the compliance rate during the implementation of joint leave from 27 provinces was monitored as much as 49.5 percent did not comply with wearing masks.

Many of these violations occur around the area of restaurants or food stalls. Meanwhile, in residential areas, there is 22.1 percent of people who do not comply with health protocols.

Then the percentage of people's mobility who left the house during the Eid holiday in 2022 reached 48.1 percent and mobility compared to the previous year which only touched 3.64 percent.

"The occurrence of a fairly high increase in mobility of 44.46 percent which was high during Lebaran this year had a positive impact on the economy with an increase in the independent spending index by 31 percent," said Wiku.

According to Wiku, currently, Indonesia is no longer in a state of emergency handling COVID-19 and is heading to the endemic phase. However, the high mobility of the community has coincided with a decrease in the number of people being tested for COVID-19.

This causes each party to continue to increase vigilance so that no party is infected or transmits the virus to each other. Wiku emphasized that the transmission of COVID-19 never knew the boundaries of an area, but that did not mean that it could not be anticipated at all.

This anticipation can be done by immediately conducting an examination if you feel symptoms of COVID-19 such as coughing, runny nose and fever after attending the homecoming and protecting yourself with disciplined health protocols, including taking vaccinations to getting a booster dose.

"I appeal to the public to continue implementing health protocols such as wearing masks, maintaining a relatively safe distance and washing hands. This is still very much needed after this Eid to minimize the effects of the COVID-19 transmission," he said.
