JAKARTA - Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud is resting in hospital, after undergoing a series of medical tests, including a successful colonoscopy.

"The outcome is fine," the Royal Court said on Sunday evening, and the king was advised by his doctors to stay in hospital to rest, reports The National News May 9.

King Salman (86) is known to have started undergoing treatment at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah, for medical tests on Saturday last week.

"May God protect the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and bless him with health and well-being," the royal court said.

A colonoscopy is a test for abnormalities of the colon and rectum, and can be used to screen for colon cancer among other health conditions.

It is known that the ruler of Saudi Arabia was admitted to the same center in 2020, when he underwent surgery to remove his gallbladder and doctors replaced the battery in his pacemaker in March.

Regarding King Salman's health, officials within the kingdom expressed their best wishes for the leader.

Additionally, Haramain Syarifain, the official news outlet for the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah, tweeted a picture of the king wishing him a speedy recovery.
