JAKARTA - The Russian invasion of Ukraine continues. Two people have been confirmed dead and 60 others are feared dead in a Russian bomb attack on a school in the Ukrainian village of Bilohorivka, Luhansk Governor Serhiy Gaidai said.

Zelenskyy said more than 300 civilians had been evacuated from the Azovstal steel plant. Russia's defense ministry said 51 people had been rescued in the three-day operation.

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said his forces had seized control of most of Popasna, but Ukrainian officials said fighting in the eastern city was still ongoing.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said it was gathering evidence for an investigation into alleged war crimes. The organization documented 200 Russian attacks on hospitals and clinics in Ukraine.

G7 leaders held a video call meeting on Sunday with Zelenskyy to show their solidarity the day before Russia celebrates Victory Day, the White House said.

Britain pledged to disburse additional funds to Ukraine worth 1.3 billion pounds (about IDR 23.26 trillion), double the previous commitment. The amount is Britain's most spent in a conflict since the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

CIA chief William Burns said Russian President Vladimir Putin believed "doubling up" the war would increase his gains.

Senior Russian lawmakers accused Washington of coordinating military operations in Ukraine, which he said amounted to direct involvement in military action against Russia.

"A targeted attack on a museum -- even terrorists wouldn't think about it. But that's the kind of army we're fighting," Zelenskyy said of Russia destroying a museum for the 18th-century philosopher and poet Hryhoriy Skovoroda, cited from ANTARA, May 8.
