JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi inaugurated three Type A Terminals in Central Java which have been completely revitalized. The three terminals are Mangkang Terminal in Semarang, Tirtonadi Terminal in Solo, and Bulupitu Terminal in Purwokerto.

Budi said that currently the three terminals that have been revitalized are not just ordinary bus terminals, but have multi-purpose room facilities that can be used for various activities.

For example, public services, exhibitions, music concerts, weddings, cultural arts activities, sports, culinary, and other activities.

"This is a new concept where the terminal is integrated with the center of community activities, which is expected to be a new point of economic growth," he said in a written statement received by VOI, Saturday, May 7.

Furthermore, Budi said, now these terminals are getting better. Especially in terms of cleanliness.

Moreover, after the revitalization of the Type A Passenger Terminal, Mangkang currently has a Public Service Mall on the 2nd floor.

This facility is a collaborative support from the Central Java Provincial Government and the Semarang City Government. While on the 1st floor, there are commercial activity facilities that involve the participation of MSME actors.

"Now Mangkang Terminal has entered 350 buses, previously only 20 buses. If people want to get public services such as permits, they just come here. This has given us a lot of joy," he said.

"In Tirtonadi it is also clean, with the concept of a community center hub. Likewise in Purwokerto, the terminal is also a center for community activities," he said.

For this reason, Budi hopes that the good synergy between the Ministry of Transportation and the Regional Government in Central Java can be an example for other regions in realizing the improvement of road transportation services that are safe, secure, and comfortable.

"Please manage this well, between the central and regional governments, this is a shared asset," he said.

On that occasion, the Minister of Transportation also released the free return transportation program organized by the Central Java Provincial Government. This program is expected to reduce the use of motorbikes for long-distance travel and can reduce road congestion both during the homecoming and return flows.
