Ganjar: Rest Areas Help Increase MSME Income When Homecoming

SEMARANG - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo stated that the role of the resting area on the Lebaran homecoming route could help increase the income of local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"We asked for a rest area (rest area), we have tried it in Batang. We have installed products from MSMEs, hopefully all rest areas can do that," said Ganjar when met in Semarang, Central Java, Antara, Wednesday, April 27.

He said that the Lebaran 2022 homecoming was a momentum to increase the income of every MSME in the local area. With many homecomers stopping at the rest area, regional MSMEs can install or sell their wares in several places around the area, so that travelers are interested in buying these local products.

On the other hand, with President Joko Widodo urging homecomers to go home faster and bringing holiday allowances (THR) to their hometowns, it is hoped that they can proactively invite people to buy local products.

"That's why we ask for THR not to be paid in installments. When the President says go home early, THR is brought, it will make people shop a lot. We will pick up the ball with our MSME products to be marketed and we will proactively invite them," said Ganjar.

He gave an example of MSME products in Central Java in the form of parcels, which made this year's revenue increase to IDR 1.2 billion, after in 2021 it was around IDR 600 million. The income is calculated on a provincial scale, not district/city level.

His party will curate every MSME in the area, so that the goods produced will be of higher quality.

He invited the whole community to buy local products in the rest area so that MSMEs' income would increase.

"This homecoming is a momentum to boost the (regional, ed.) economy, so let's buy (SME products, ed.) from our village," said Ganjar.
