Masinton Asks AGO To Look Into Allegations Of Corrupt Relations In CPO Exports With The Issue Of Election Delays

JAKARTA - Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the PDIP faction, Masinton Pasaribu, asked the Attorney General's Office (AGO) to investigate the alleged connection between the alleged corruption case in granting crude palm oil (CPO) export permits and raising funds for the issue of delaying the 2024 election.

"Yes, I have information that part of the scarcity of cooking oil and then the price was made expensive to prioritize export because of the need to maintain the issue of postponing the election", said Masinton, quoted on Sunday, April 24.

According to him, this information is an important part of the current investigation by the AGO. So, said Masinton, the investigators need to investigate further. This member of Commission XI of the DPR admitted that he had studied the information. However, he refused to clearly mention the source of information about it.

"The name is information, we have to study it, we have to verify it. But we also can't ignore the information. Moreover, the corruption case in the export of cooking oil has been handled by the Attorney General's Office", Masinton explained.

Masinton only detailed that the allegations could be related to the declarations made by several plasma farmers to support the extension of the president's term of office. One of them is fostered by large corporations related to the production of crude palm oil. Therefore, Megawati Soekarnoputri's subordinates supported the AGO in tracing the connection between the case.

"We support the Attorney General to investigate it. Including the actors behind the oligopoly cartel. The expensive and scarce cooking oil is properly utilized by certain parties. Meanwhile, domestic cooking oil needs are not being met", Masinton concluded.

Previously, on Wednesday, On April 20, Masinton Pasaribu, who is also a member of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, revealed the involvement of large corporations in perpetuating the issue of extending the office of the President or postponing the 2024 election.

"Large corporations of palm oil companies that participate in mobilizing support for a three-term presidential extension must be sanctioned!! It is known that there are four suspects named by the Prosecutor in this case. They are the Director-General of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Trade, Indrasari Wisnu Wardhana; Commissioner of PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia Master Parulian Tumanggor.

Then, Senior Manager Corporate Affairs of PT Pelita Agung Agrindustri/Permata Hijau Group, Stanley MA; and General Manager of PT Musim Mas General Affair Division, Picare Tagore Sitanggang as suspects.
