BEKASI - The Bekasi Regency Government, West Java, repaired a number of damaged points on the Kalimalang Channel Inspection Road, which is included in its territory, ahead of the 2022 Lebaran homecoming season.

The Head of Highways at the Department of Water Resources, Bina Marga and Construction Development of Bekasi Regency, Heru Pranoto, said that repairs to the road were carried out using the patchwork method.

"The budget has been allocated for IDR 3 billion. So, what we repair is only the damaged roads, not all of them," he said in Cikarang, West Java, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, April 13.

His party has mapped the location of damaged roads along Jalan Kalimalang starting from the border area of Bekasi City to Karawang Regency.

Based on the results of identification in the field, the damaged roads are spread over four areas, namely South Tambun, Cibitung, West Cikarang, and Central Cikarang Districts.

"The total damaged roads are approximately 3,900 square meters. We are doing this repair to ensure that travelers are safe while driving," he said.

Heru explained that the road repair project had started on Tuesday (12/4) and is expected to be completed on D-10 Eid.

Therefore, he apologized if the road repair work caused traffic along the Kalimalang Channel Inspection Road to become stifled.

He also appealed to road users to anticipate the trip by ensuring the vehicle is in top condition and refueling before starting the trip.

"Of course, we all hope that this year's homecoming season will run smoothly without any significant problems. Always comply with health protocols and travel requirements according to government regulations and be careful and obey signs, especially around work locations," he said.
