Welcoming Easter 2022, Banjarnegara Police Increase Church Security

PURWOKERTO - Security has been tightened at churches in the Banjarnegara area, Central Java. This step was taken to create a safe and conducive situation to welcome the 2022 Easter celebrations.

"The Banjarnegara Police are tightening security for the region and churches ahead of the 2022 Easter celebrations to provide a sense of security and comfort in the community," said Banjarnegara Police Chief AKBP Hendri Yulianto in a press release received in Purwokerto, Wednesday, April 13.

In addition to tightening regional and church security ahead of the 2022 Easter commemoration, his party will also monitor a number of vital objects and crowded places in Banjarnegara.

In addition, his party will also carry out sterilization activities in a number of churches in Banjarnegara.

"As an anticipation, we will also carry out church sterilization as a fulfillment of standard operating procedures that must be carried out by the police to provide a sense of security, comfort and conduciveness to residents who are carrying out worship," he said.

The police chief said that the personnel on duty would wear complete attributes and equipment.

Officers will also comb all corners of the church room and the surrounding environment to make sure there are no dangerous objects.

"This is in order to provide security guarantees to residents who carry out worship activities. We together with the TNI and Satpol PP and other relevant agencies are trying to maintain the security of Banjarnegara residents and will provide full escort and security for every worship activity in the church this Easter," he said.

AKBP Hendri Yulianto emphasized that his party would intensify patrols in the morning, afternoon, evening and night.

"As part of tightening security, we will intensify patrol activities. In addition, we will also deploy fully armed personnel," he said.

Nevertheless, he invited the entire Banjarnegara community to jointly maintain security in this area.

"Let's work together to maintain regional security in our respective environments because the task of maintaining security is the obligation of all parties, agencies, and all elements of society," he said.

The police chief also invited the residents of Banjarnegara to live in harmony, peace, and play an active role in maintaining a conducive climate in the local area.

"Let's live together in harmony and respect each other. Another thing that is no less important is to remain disciplined in maintaining health protocols when worshiping," he said.
