Jokowi Wants Acting Governor To Be Selected, PDIP Alludes To The Head Of The Presidential Secretariat To Replace Anies In DKI

JAKARTA - The chairman of the PDIP faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Gembong Warsono, mentioned the figure of the Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono when talking about the acting (Pj) who will be appointed to fill the vacant position of the Governor of DKI later.

This is in response to President Joko Widodo's statement that reminded the acting (Pj) regional heads whose terms of office will end before the 2024 General Elections are selected strictly.

Gembong considers Heru worthy to serve as Acting to replace Anies during the vacant position of the Governor of DKI Jakarta before the 2024 General Election. Gembong's name was also mentioned some time ago.

"It's not far from what I've said. Yes (Heru's name), I've said it before," said Gembong when contacted, Wednesday, April 13.

Personally, Gembong admitted that he was not close to Heru. However, he knows how Heru's gait. Heru is considered by Gembong as one of the people who understand Jakarta's problems and can continue the existing program.

This is because Heru has a background as Mayor of North Jakarta in 2014 and Head of the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) of DKI Jakarta in 2015.

"I don't know him, but I know his performance. It's easy to speed up a program that has been stalled and has not been executed, so that the development can be immediately felt by the people of Jakarta," said Gembong.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said 101 regional heads would complete their term of office. Therefore, hundreds of official figures will be needed to fill the vacancy.

However, the person who will fill the position should not be determined arbitrarily. Jokowi reminded that preparations that were followed by the selection stage must be carried out to ensure strong leadership.

"I have instructed that the official figures who will fill the vacant positions are prepared and selected properly," Jokowi said as quoted from the @jokowi Instagram account.

Jokowi wants acting regional heads who fill vacancies to carry out their duties properly. Moreover, at this time, Jokowi said, economic conditions were not easy.

"We want regional officials who have the ability and strong leadership to carry out tough tasks in the midst of a difficult economic situation," he said.

There are seven governors whose terms of office will expire, one of which is the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan. In addition, there are 76 regents and 18 mayors who have completed their duties.
