Jokowi Officially Inaugurates Elected KPU And Bawaslu Members For The 2022-2027 Period

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially inaugurated seven members of the General Election Commission (KPU) and five members of the General Elections Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) for the 2022-2027 period at the State Palace in Jakarta today.

The seven KPU commissioners elected were Betty Epsilon Idrus, Hasyim Asy'ari, Mochammad Afifudin, Parsadaan Harahap, Yulianto Sudrajat, Idham Holik, and August Mellaz.

Meanwhile, five Bawaslu members were elected, Lolly Suhenty, Puadi, Rahmat Bagja, Totok Hariyono, and Herwyn Jefler Hielsa Malonda.

The inauguration ceremony began with the singing of the national anthem Indonesia Raya. Then, the reading of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 33P of 2022 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of Members of the General Election Commission and the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 34P of 2022 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of Members of the Election Oversight Body.

"By Allah, I swear, by God, I promise, that I will fulfill my duties and obligations as a member of the General Election Commission, as a member of the General Elections Supervisory Body to the best of my ability in accordance with the laws and regulations based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. duties and authorities will work seriously, honestly, fairly and carefully for the success of the elections for members of the DPR, DPD, elections for the President and Vice President, and DPRD, upholding democracy and justice and prioritizing the interests of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia over personal or group interests. Then, the inauguration was closed with the accompaniment of the national anthem Indonesia Raya. After that, Jokowi greeted the newly inaugurated KPU and Bawaslu members one by one, before finally Jokowi and his staff left the room.

For information, those whose names have been sworn in have already been selected by Commission II of the DPR RI and tapped during a plenary meeting before their names are sent to President Jokowi's desk.

This member of the KPU and Bawaslu 2022-2027 officially takes office after a 27-hour vacancy due to the member's previous period ending on April 11.
