JAKARTA - University of Indonesia criminologist, Josias Simon, asked the police to transparently reveal who the perpetrators of the attempted robbery of Bank BJB KCP Fatmawati were on Tuesday, April 5.

He conveyed this so that issues related to the attempted robbery would not become wild among the public.

"It really has to be revealed, let alone viral in the public. And it must be completed, so that the public is not confused," said Josias when confirmed, Monday, April 11.

Josias revealed that the identity of the perpetrator did not affect the confidentiality of the bank institution itself (where the perpetrator worked), because the perpetrators were only individuals who carried out robberies with their own intentions.

"I don't think there is a problem with banking secrecy, namely working with financial management. But for the crime or robbery, it must be revealed," said Josias.

"I think bank secrecy is different from the crime (attempted robbery)," he continued.

As is known, an attempted robbery was carried out at Bank BJB Fatmawati on Tuesday, April 5, at around 14.30 p.m.

The perpetrator with the initials BS came using a Daihatsu Xenia and immediately entered the bank and took out a weapon that was suspected to be an airsoft gun.

A security officer named Farizal who was on guard at that time, tried to dispel and together with other bank bjb employees managed to catch the perpetrator

BS, allegedly served as vice president at a private bank. Information circulated that BS, whose address is at Jalan Perum Greenland, Bojongsari, Depok, is the Vice President of a Private Bank.

As is known, BS has a monthly salary of IDR 60 million. However, due to his car wash business, he is in debt of IDR 1.5 billion. This forced BS to commit an attempted robbery at Bank BJB Fatmawati.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police (AKBP) Ridwan Soplanit, admitted that he did not know more clearly about his work. However, he only confirmed that BS has a high position in a private bank.

"Until now, he (BS) has a high position in one of the private banks," said Ridwa when contacted by VOI, Saturday, April 9.

As a result of his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code regarding theft with violence and was subject to the Republic of Indonesia Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 in terms of possession of weapons.
