Often Entrusting Detainees, Kemenkumham Builds IDR 54 Billion Rutan In Central Bangka

BABEL - The Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) will build a detention house (rutan) with a budget of Rp. 54 billion in Koba, Central Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands, to facilitate legal handling of the inmates.

"So far, the detainees have been kept in the Sungailiat Rutan, Bangka Regency with a fairly long distance," said Head of the Administrative Division of the Babel Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Wardatul Hamro, after inspecting the construction site for the detention center in Koba, as reported by Antara, Friday, April 8.

The Ministry of Law and Human Rights has prepared funds of IDR 54 billion for the construction of a detention center in an area of five hectares with a capacity of 300 people.

"If there are no obstacles, we will start construction in 2023," he said. Regional Secretary for the Central Bangka Regency Government, Sugianto welcomed the construction of the detention center in Koba because it has become an urgent need.

"It is natural that in Central Bangka a detention center should be built, so that detainees do not have to be kept in the Sungailiat Rutan," he said.

According to Sugianto, the construction of detention centers will not only have an impact on legal instruments in the area, but can also move the regional economy.

"It also indirectly has an impact on the regional economy and society," he said.
